First Annual “Stinky Ball” Huge Success

$120,000 Raised for Thymic Cancer Research. Over 300 supporters take part in “Celebration of Life” fundraiser.

New York, May 4, 2006 — The Foundation for Thymic Cancer Research (FTCR) held its first annual Stinky Ball, a charity event that raised $120,000 with the support of more than 300 attendees.

Named after a three-year-old boy called his father’s thymus cancer, “Stinky Ball,” the event was created to raise awareness and funds for thymic cancer research.

Held at the legendary Copacabana nightclub, Stinky Ball guests enjoyed an open bar, cocktail hour, buffet dinner, dancing, Chinese auction and silent auction.

The Barbara Neibauer Celebration of Life Award was given to Barbara’s husband, Alan. Barbara and Alan founded the FTCR after she was diagnosed with thymic carcinoma in 2003. Following Barbara’s passing in 2005, Alan has continued to fundraise for research, provide informative online resources and maintain a valuable support system for patients and their families.
